About

Amble, ‘the friendliest port’ is situated in the beautiful county of Northumberland at the south of its coastline of beaches and castles and having a history as a community dating from the Saxon period.

Amble Photographic Group was founded in July, 2006 by ‘students’ who had participated a short-term project, established to share local culture with other similar European groups by means of IT and digital imaging. Having found the project a rewarding experience, an express desire to continue to develop the group together, created the Group as it is today.

Commencing their weekly, 3 hour, Friday morning meetings in September, 2006, the Group now numbers over 35 members of widely disparate skills and experience. The Group is committed to a philosophy of sharing and the ethos of a community group.

The varied programme includes presentations from both professional and advanced amateur photographers, monthly projects with a competitive element, tutorials, ‘field trips’, exhibitions and of course, the sharing of members images.

In 2007, the Group became members of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation having 50 clubs in membership and links with other national and international bodies including the Royal Photographic Society thus extending their experience and activity even further.
